About this Unit
This version of the unit will commence from 2010. This unit explores both the designed and natural environments in terms of sustainability and encompasses urban, suburban and rural contexts. The role of innovative sustainable contemporary design bases on established ecological principles and the aesthetics of the Occidental and Oriental traditions are explored. Students will acquire a range of key competencies in the design, evaluation and management of the landscape, an understanding of the broad cultural issues involved and the challenge of changing physical and degraded environments including the impacts of future climate change.
