This course is designed to accommodate students who wish to pursue or progress a career within the aviation industry. Students who wish to train as professional pilots have the opportunity to undertake flight training as a second major that may be accredited towards the Bachelor of Aviation. Students who wish to pursue aviation careers other than flying, may choose to specialise in key program areas, such as aviation training and development, aviation management and human factors in aviation. Students are encouraged to combine their aviation major with a major or minor from a broad range of key areas offered by the University, such as aviation security, languages, interntional studies, engineering, finance, management, law, hospitality and tourism.

Study Mode
Three years of full-time study or equivalent part-time.

Accreditation
BAviation with a second major in Flying: On successful completion of the flight training program, students will obtain:the Australian Commercial Pilot Licence; a multi-engine Command Instrument Rating or a Flight Instructor Rating; passes in the Australian Air Transport Pilot Licence theory examinations.

Admission

UAI or mature age entry;UAI and Interview (BAviation students wanting to undertake a second major in Flying)

As a requirement of admission to the off-campus/distance education program, students must be eligible for a minimum of 80 points of academic credit. To be eligible for this credit students must be members of the aviation industry and have already completed professional qualifications and/or extensive operational experience. Course Structure

Qualification for this award requires the successful completion of 240 credit points which include units listed in the recommended sequence below. 40 credit points of the unit are compulsory units. Non-flying students are also required to undertake an additional compulsory ten credit point unit - Aviation Principles and Operations. 60 credit points of level 3 units must be completed for the award of this degree - 40 credit points must be in Aviation units at the Level 3. No more that 100 credit points within the degree can be completed at the level 1.
