The Bachelor of Financial Advising is a professional degree course which is unique in its scope and coverage. The course is designed for individuals who seek specialist financial advising careers. It equips graduates with the necessary knowledge and skills and prepares them to face the challenges of working in the financial advising industry. The financial advising industry is a new and emerging area and this course will supply graduates who have undertaken a comprehensive program in one or more of the three complementary fields of accounting, taxation and financial planning. This course offers graduates the potential for diverse career paths and provides marketability in multiple areas of expertise.

Three years full-time or six years part-time.

Advanced standing willl be awarded in accordance with University policy.

Accreditation
Depending upon the electives and alternates chosen, this degree satisfies the accreditation requirements of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), as well as CPA Australia (CPA), The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA) and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) for entry into their programs respectively. In order to meet entry requirements to the Certified Financial Planning (CFP) professional educational programs offered by the FPA, students will need to complete units in the financial planning stream.

Course Structure

Qualification for this award requires the successful completion of 240 credit points including the units listed in the recommended sequence below.

Students must have no more than 100 credit points of 100 level units and no fewer than 60 credit points of 300 level units.

Electives within the sequence may be used towards obtaining an approved major or sub-major offered by Western Sydney University. Students requiring professional accreditation must complete units in the relevant streams as well and are advised to use their electives to do so.

Accreditation with all Accounting bodies requires completion of the unit 200535 Auditing and Assurance Services in place of 200188 Systems Design and Audit in the below Accounting Stream.
