M3042 replaced by M3058 from 2012. The study of nutrition and human physiology incorporates knowledge of human biology and biochemistry to understand how the body utilizes nutrients and related substances for optimal health throughout the lifecycle. This major also addresses the physiological and nutritional foundations for understanding the nature of food and the physiological and epidemiological relationships between food, nutrients and components of food and common diet-related diseases prevalent in Australia. This major is recommended for students seeking an in-depth understanding of diet-related health issues and intending to work in allied or community health, education, or seeking further graduate studies in nutrition, dietetics or public health.
