About this Unit
The aim of this unit is to develop an understanding of contemporary notions about power as constitutive of social relationships in everyday life, and the influence that these ideas have on therapeutic practices. Students will be encouraged to develop a reflexive awareness of, and an experiential understanding of, the normalising and pathologising practices of the discourse of psychology in the shaping of self and subjectivity. This includes a theoretical and experiential understanding of the various forms of marginalisation in our culture.
