About this Unit
This is an advanced level unit in adult psychopathology, focusing on the classification, assessment and diagnosis of major psychiatric syndromes. It takes a critical perspective on the diagnosis of psychological disorders using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (4th Edition) (DSM-IV-TR) (American Psychiatric Association, 2000). Major current psychological and biological aetiological theories for disorders are also be addressed.
