About this Unit
Educational psychologists must have a thorough understanding of the relations between neurobiology, psychological classification, pharmacology and child and adolescent development. This unit covers basic developmental neuroscience considerations and it introduces students to the more common clinical and associated learning disorders encountered in children. An overview will be provided of genetic, endocrine, anatomical and neurobiological underpinning's of specific syndromes such as autism, schizophrenia, attention deficit disorder and the like. Pharmacological and other biologically based treatment regimes will be introduced.
