About this Unit
Research in the creative arts utilizes a range of investigative procedures appropriate to the theory and practice of each discipline. This unit will introduce fundamental research languages, methods and outcomes relevant to the contemporary arts. It will compare various research procedures and encourage students to develop approaches best suited to their theory and practice. It will also engage the students in writing and defending a research proposal and paper for a specific research program and introduce students to the varying contexts in which those programs may be applied. Through the use of the research program, the unit will enable students to apply a rigorous research framework to their own work.
