About this Unit
This unit investigates the functioning of the human body during physical activity and its acute and chronic responses to the demands of regular, physical activity at all levels of intensity. The Principles of physical activity as depicted by the National Physical Activity Guidelines for Australians are examined. Physical activity and physical fitness models are viewed through social construct theory. The aspects of physical activity and exercise testing and prescription are examined for children, adolescents and adults. Students will gain practical experience in a limited number of physical activity and physical fitness assessments through involvement in appraisal techniques and program structuring.
