Assumed Knowledge
It is expected that students will have an intermediate knowledge of communication design theories and processes and specifically an intermediate level understanding of graphic and typographic design principles as applied to multiple page documents. A working knowledge of graphic identity systems and data visualization and how these processes relate to the corporate context. A working knowledge of digital and analogue production processes and methodologies.


About this Unit
This unit addresses the construction of multiple page documents and facilitates self-initiated and client based publication projects. Students explore experimental and speculative approaches, advanced information systems and layout techniques for publication design with a clear focus on communication objectives. This unit is designed to allow students to respond to a specific research methodology, leading to an in-depth understanding of a client and their cultural, commercial, social and economic environment through participation in a range of print and/or screen based projects.
