About this Unit
This unit replaced by 200549.1 The Australian Macroeconomy in 2008. This unit introduces the study of the economy as a whole. Basic models, tools, concepts and theories are used to develop an understanding of the determination of and interdependence between output, employment, price levels, income distribution and growth. Important controversies in macroeconomic theories are examined through their implications for the role of government policy. The distinction between short-run and long-run equilibrium is examined along with equilibrium in the money market, and the goods market, and the connection between internal and external balance.
