About this Unit
An understanding of financial and economic considerations underpins sound managerial decision making in many areas of operation of a tourism firm or organisation. This unit develops students' understanding of a variety of techniques for financial and economic appraisal, and their strengths and limitations. Topics include: capital budgeting, risk analysis and project evaluation; working capital management, cash flow estimation and evaluation; evaluation of economic and social impacts of tourism promotion; assessing costs and benefits of tourism growth nationally and regionally; and assessment of policies to maximise net benefits from tourism development.
