About this Unit
This unit provides students with an understanding of the characteristics and architecture of Enterprise Information Systems from the computing viewpoint. The common systems as found in industry are described in terms of their functions, operation and relationship to the information structure of an organisation, in order to understand these systems, the UML is introduced and used as a modeling tool. Also investigated are issues of security, privacy as in EDI standards, as applied to these systems, along with threats from the web/internet interface to these systems.
