In 2014 this unit is replaced by 300961 Social Computing. This unit provides an overview of how information systems and technology impacts society in general. It explores the evolution of the technology era, dependency on gadgets, impact of the Internet on everyday life, use of Web2.0 technologies, evolution of online communities, different views of social networking sites; along with how networking communities are emerging and forming part of daily lives. This unit also examines the types of jobs available in information technology. It also covers the legal aspects of IT including an overview of Cyber laws, IP laws and IT ethics and policies.
