About this Unit
This unit explores the knowledge and skills required by the therapeutic recreating specialists to plan, design, implement, evaluate, leisure and recreation programs for people with special needs. Students will build on the skills and intervention techniques in therapeutic recreation with an emphasis on programming principles and practices for people with special needs. Students will develop a number of approaches to programming which will include a social planning model, a community development recreation and program evaluation, analyse the outcomes of therapeutic recreation.
