About this Unit
This unit explores neuroanatomy and brain function, including conceptual models, and then from this draws out key activities of clinical neuropsychologists stressing their assessment and rehabilitation roles with more common neurological disorders. The unit is not designed to provide clinical neuropsychology skills, recognising that the specialist and complex nature of this type of clinical work requires a specialist 5th and 6th year award in its own right. Nonetheless, the unit provides a wide-ranging and demanding level of knowledge and understanding of human brain function and the impact of brain damage arising from trauma, neurological disorders, and psychiatric and related disorders.
