This unit has been replaced by 300650 Nutrition and Health 2 in Spring 2009. The aims and objectives of this unit are to develop an understanding of the inter relationship between nutrition and health in the Australian community using anthropological approaches and to provide the student with a sound foundation in nutritional anthropology in order that they may systematically analyse nutritional problems associated with: world food issues; minority (ethnic and/or Koori) groups within Australia; disorders of affluence (such as obesity, cancer, diabetes and cardiovascular disease); current nutrition issues in the community.
